Back during November, Kia Motors introduced the first look at the future Kia Sorento at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. While nothing changed drastically, there were plenty of smart and subtle changes that were showcases. So, here’s what to expect from the 2019 Kia Sorento.
2019 Kia Sorento Exterior Enhancements
The first thing you notice with the future Sorento model are the new front and rear fascias, which help give the Sorento a more sophisticated while still maintaining its iconic muscular look. The radiator grille is now more detailed and seamlessly transitions to the new headlamps that have updated projection bulbs for lower trims and distinctive LED lighting on upper trims. The rear now features a new bumper design, sleeker taillamps, a revised liftgate and a sportier muffler tip.

The various upgrades and enhancements in the cabin help maintain the premium look and environment in the Sorento. For instance, there is a new, more tactile steering wheel, new shifter knob and even a revised instrument cluster that features improved graphics. And a new feature is the now standard 50/50 third-row folding seats on every trim, plus the 40/20/40 second-row folding seats. This optimizes not only the comfort and space for passengers, but also the versatility for cargo room in the Sorento. Which the cargo room is a spacious 74 cubic feet.
Then, the technology has also been upgraded within the 2019 Sorento. On higher trim levels, there is an upgraded AVN 5.0 navigation system with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ integration. Plus, there is now the available wireless charging tray for compatible Android and Apple devices, including the new iPhone X. There is also the available new 10-speaker, 630-watt Harman/Kardon® stereo system with an 11-channel amplifier that features Clari-Fi™ technology and the newly integrated QuantumLogic™ Surround Sound system.

The 2019 Sorento will be available with either a 2.4-liter inline-4 GDI engine or a 3.3-liter V6 GDI engine, as well as either front- or all-wheel drive. There is even a new diesel engine that is currently under development. The 2.4-liter engine is paired with a revised and more efficient electronically controlled 6-speed automatic gearbox that features Sportmatic® shifting, while the V6 engine option is equipped with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Overall, the new Sorento will have a noticeably smoother and more seamless driving experience.
Then, when properly equipped with the AWD, the Sorento will maintain its towing capacity of 5,000-pounds. Plus, the Kia Advanced Driver Assistance System is now standard on the EX trim and higher, and the Sorento now offers Driver Attention Warning and Lane Keeping Assist.
